lost connection, lost game

Sorry but there is no recourse (and it is only a little game so get over it).

The system recognised that the connection was lost and, as always happens, after a few minutes, the game is terminated and abandoned.

You may not have noticed that the connection was gone but from my experience the system  is foolproof in recognising a lost connection.

Hey BrianPeake,

When you get that message it means that you have been disconnected from the live chess server. If you don't reconnect within 2 minutes the server will then deem the game abandoned and you lose the match :(

Could you possibly click the following link and try some of the suggestions found there to help minimize the risk of your being disconnected from the server? http://support.chess.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/167/0/my-internet-connection-is-fine---why-am-i-getting-disconnects

I was charged with a loss when the message mentioned site maintenence. I presumed that I and my opponent were equally disconnected, but somehow I lost on time.

I'm contemplating leaving this site over the failure to resolve the problem. It should be a simple matter to apologize and restore the 10 points my rating lost.

Losses due to disconnection have hurt me, and they have helped me. They happen a lot on chess.com.

A loss due to site maintenance, however, is new.

Kansha that was very helpful-- Thanks!

Glad I could be of assistance :D

I also lost connection and lost the game. Interestingly, when I used another online chess website at that time, there was no problem with the connection, so it was not my computer problem. I sent a message to chess.com and the staff did not reply.
