I'm noticing that every time the Mackeeper ad pops up, my ability to move is instantly crippled; my computer slows *way* down. I have a strong suspicion that the ad itself has some embedded function that sucks up processing power or otherwise creates an artificial bottleneck in my computer's performance. I guess their idea is to create the appearance of a problem and then sell you the solution? Very annoying. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

It is not safe but it isn't exactly a trojan either. If you do research through google you'll find that it is actually a cleaner but like most other cleaners it cleans files that will impede some programs and possibly even disable them.
In any case, I reccomend having a backup of all your files so that you don't have to worry if you accidentally install something like that.
Mackeeper is basically just going to mess up your system in ways you won't understand as well as slow it down rather than speed it up in 80-90% of cases.
Do NOT use Mackeeper. Youtube videos, google search results, etc. all support me in this statement. I have done a lot of research and found others that were effected by the Mackeeper in my life that also had trouble removing it. Something that won't let you remove it easily and yet claims to be good for you generally isn't something you want on your computer.
