it isn't related to the chat bar - it's related to some oddly intermittent database problems that have been popping up on us lately. we're working on it, but it's painful :(

So you can contact Help&Support They always helped me and respond same or next day ;)

Today alone:

I logged into chess.com at 1.20pm I looked at a few messages. I took a look at my group comments and then I sent a challenge at 1.35pm to chess unlimited for speed vote chess. Straight after sending it the site crashed and booted me off ... I managed to log back in at 1.56pm at which point the challenge had NOT been accepted by wilt due to him also getting booted when the server crashed. 

The challenge finally got accepted at 2.03pm by which time meant that the game had to start at 3pm. So we waited ... and at 3pm the game did not start. It just kept saying "This game starts soon" ... myself and wilt waited yet another hour for the game to start but we had to abort the game because the game refused to start.

In another game that had already started on chess.com the game started at 1pm my time and at 2pm the game crashed at move 3 ... 

IS that anything to do with internet speed? Or browser?? NO that was chess.com having issues and this has been happening on and off since meebo got introduced!!

Well with all due respect to Erik and the team but they won't admit it is the chat thing will they??

the site is currently having some stability issues totally unrelated to meebo. we had one server go offline totally (we're working on it) and we are running some expensive queries to reimport games into explorer. the combo is taking a toll at time. hope to have it fixed soon.

everyone loves their own conspiracy theory... sigh. why do you ask me for help if you don't believe the answers?

Nothing now no but I do know that the speed vote chess games are still crashed. I had to abort my game

Take it off cos its a nusence and this site has already enough annoying problems already. I think its a good idea to get the other problems sorted then maybe add this later.

I like the fact that they added meebo....i figured it was the next logical step in improving the site...posting notes is ok...but there's nothing quite like real time Instant Messaging.

But i also see the point that maybe the site was just not ready for it yet, if it slows down and causes error...but i'm sure that the developers are probably getting these feedback and are busy brainstorming on how to fix these problems

Just like meebo came somewhat unexpectedly, they'll probably bring "sweet Meebo" (coining a phrase from what Mickey said) on stream soon that works the way it should.

I haven't had any problems on the site, nor have I bothered to switch Meebo off, so I'm tempted to suggest that perhaps it isn't our friendly chat-bar causing these problems.

I have been chatting with Erik and he said himself that meebo had been running on the site for a week before all us members got it (just hidden) so I am now inclined to believe what he has been saying about it not being that. 

Yes, that does seem rather strong evidence of Meebo's innocence. I believe it is akin to breaking a mirror- everything 'unlucky' that happens afterwards is then attributed to the event, even small inconveniences you never would've picked up on otherwise.

Guess it just comes down to my lack of patience this week ... lets just put it down to a bad week lol
