Mobile Chess problem

Hi. I've got an hTc Touch Diamond phone on the Sprint network. It's using Windows Mobile 6.1. I can get to http://chess.com/mobile just fine, but when I click on the link that says "Download Mobile Chess 1.0" a window pops up with the title of "Chess.com.jad", then in the text part of the window it says "There is no application associated with 'Chess.com'. Run the application first, then open this file from within the application." I press OK, and then I'm back to the beginning.

Thoughts?

It seems to me that the hTc Touch Diamond doesn't support the Java demands for the mobile app if I look at the specs for the phone. It must support j2me ( MIDP2.0 and CLDC1.0 profiles ) and that doesn't seem the case. Which is also why the phone doesn't recognize the Chess.com.jad as an application.

Thank you, Flanne. Is that a problem w/the OS on the phone (Windows Mobile 6.1), or a limitation of the phone itself?

I believe its the phone itself. I have heard of other phones with Windows Mobile 6.1 OS that actually can execute the mobile app. They have other issues with being pure touch phones which the mobile app doesn't understand but thats another issue.

thanks for your help.

Just got Chess.com Mobile working on my Treo 700WX today!!!

Here's what I've found fellow Treonauts.

for Windows Mobile phones you need to install this .cab ()

This will install the Cloudy FA Esmertec JBED as the Windows Mobile Version 5.0 and less doesn't come with a Java emulator.

Once you've downloaded and installed the above .cab (btw, .jar/.jad files will not install on WMV 5.0), then go to chess.com/mobile and download/install the .jad file.

FYI, WMV 5.0 IE version cannot use chess.com regular links as the Java is not support on that version of IE or the OS.

If you guys need any helps, please PM me.
