Mobile Notifications

I am using the Android app to play a friend who is using the iPhone app.  Both of us have everything turned on regarding notifications and sounds, in both the apps and the web site.  On the Android app I am getting no notifications when it is my move -- neither an email, nor a sound on the phone (Samsung Galaxy S4).  On the iPhone 5, my friend is getting email notifications, but no sound on the phone.

What are we doing wrong?

It fixed itself one day no idea how... Sorry this doesn't help :( but I made a similar thread a while back.

Apparently audio notifrcations does not work, at least in the android app.

just wanted to chime in...notifications no longer working on my Samsung S5. they were working and recently just stopped. my friend says he no longer gets them on his iphone 5. VERY ANNOYING.

Forum Administrator: do we need to report this as a problem or bug, or do you know of plans to fix it?  Games go much faster when one is notified its your move.  Thanks.

Turns out I have been using the "classic" version of the app.  Have switched to the "learn and play" version.  Testing notificiatsions...

Audio Notifications work in the version called "Play and Learn", but not in the version called "Classic".  The audio notification (your move) consists of one click -- the same as moving a piece.  The click is not very loud, so likely you will not notice it.  The notification is not repeated, nor can you change the notification sound.

If the app programmers read these posts, please consider allowing the user to choose a notification sound from their device sounds.

The notification sound can be changed when the Android app is functioning properly. According to these forums, that function is broken. I have yet to see anything from an admin or developer that suggests this issue being addressed or even acknowledged. This is particularly problematic because the notification sound is stuck on silent on my phone. I can try to change it to something else but it doesn't retain the selection I've made. Please advise.

I have the exact same problem. Notification sound is stuck on silent and will not retain a different sound selection. Very annoying. Makes the app useless really.

I think the only way it will get addressed is if those having this issue give the app a low rating and complain about the issue there.

Me too. Very annoying. No matter how many times I Select Tone in the Notifications sub-menu it does not save the selection, such that it returns to silent. Please please admin can you acknowledge this problem and give an estimated time to fix?!

Still no sound for me.

Android 6 and 7

Just lost 2 tournament games as i recieved no notification. Not notified when the new round started, no warning about move timer, but at least the notification about having lost on time works. All notification turned on: Android

Same problem for me. I see this thread started 3 years ago with no solution still, even no answer form Chess.com. A shame for such a great app.

Especially when there's so many other apps that send you unwanted notifications.
