New message icon, but no new message?

Hello Chess.com staff.

I have a new message icon that wont go away. I read all my messages, but there it is...Even after opening/closing my browser..etc...any suggestion. Its a bit annoying because I don't know if I did actually get a new message or not.

did you scroll back a few pages in your messages? sometimes I will get that for a message that is a few months old that radomally became unread again and I have to go back and find it :P

yea....but its still there....Ill check again

got it....5 pages back....so wierd I never saw the icon until now....

no problem!

I had the same thing happen except that there was no unread message anywhere in my list.  I logged off and back on again.  The "ghost message" was still there.  So I sent myself a message, which I received and deleted.  Bingo, the ghost message disappeared too!

Happening to me in 2022

That can happen when you receive a message but the sender gets muted. If you get a lot of messages, it's possible you'll have to find it in the Unread tab.
