Do you have the switch on the side of your iPad toggled to lock screen rotation or to silence your device?

I was able to figured why there was no sound when i play chess at chess.com. I went to setting >> Sound >> LOCK SOUND >> ON. It's weird. I an not sure if this what was causing this, but it worked for me. I got my sounds back.
Suddenly I lost the ticking sound when I or my opponent makes a move. No sound is no fun. Does anyone know how to resolve this glitch?
