International Debit card works. Give it a try. Else contact bank to issue debit card for international transaction involving transaction over internet.

Wait for some time they will take in Indian money I guess. Or approach chess.com India stall during big tournaments. The Chess.com site is very good for learning. A lot of articles and live streams.  I was a member but during pandemic, I discontinued it.

Whatever options are available when upgrading is what you get.

Other options:

Instead of forcing payments through a recurring bill plan, which has recently been barred by regulation in India, CHESS.COM should introduce one time payment for a six/twelve month subscription for India.
they could be losing a lot of potential subscribers because of the sheer hassle (paypal not accepting INR, recurring transactions declined by Credit/debit card providers) of trying to make payment from India.

I wanted to get a premium membership but find no viable way of doing it from India...

Why there is no option to pay with paytm, QR scanner or UPI etc for indian users?

Apparently the payment processor the site uses don't support those options. If you have one of the apps it might be possible through the app stores.

Please do not send cash payments.
If you're sending in a cheque or money order, please remember to include your chess.com username and the membership you are paying for. This is the address to send it too

I got the option of UPI but I can't pay through it

It is shown that we have a problem from our side 😔😔

Anyone solved this yet? I too don't have a credit/debit card. I can't use crypto. It'd be good if they added UPI option
