It does not have the same outcome. Ng4+ prepares Nf2#, i.e. 1.Ng4+ Kh1 2.Kf1! forcing Black to box his own king in with 2...h2, and white wins with 3.Nf2#
After 1.Nf3+? Kh1 what is your intention? After any white move black will simply play 2...h2. White then has no checkmate and will have to either stalemate black or let the king out, thus only getting a draw.
