floriberle: Have you tried asking Deutsche Telekom for support? That is really an issue far away from Chess.com servers... We are still investigating anyway.
Sorry, but that's not the way it goes. As far as I can see, chess.com is responsible for making every components of the site work that customers are paying for. As long as it is clear that the affected users' internet connection and the rest of the chess.com components works, it surely cant' be their job to find out why there is a problem and how to fix it.
There isn't even substantial evidence that this only affects Telekom customers, and even if so, I absoutely doubt that the front-end private customer service at any phone company on this planet would even remotely now what kind of problem this is.
Especially as the service provided by the phone companies (internet access etc.) and other components of the site obviously do work, I clearly see this as an issue chess.com has to deal with, and I can't help getting a bit of the impression that someone is trying to lay the blame at someone else's door, which would be a major disappointment given how great this site is otherwise.
I would disagree with you entirely and say all the evidence suggest it is only Deutsche Telekom users that are having this problem. Certainly, it seems to be exclusively users from Germany experiencing the outages. Whilst your argument is that the rest of the internet works fine for you, there is also the similar argument: why does Live Chess work fine for the rest of us?
You are right to question of course; I'll be interested in seeing how this is resolved, if it persists.
Thank you for your thoughts, benkku. Actually, it really can be true that the problem is located somewhere between you and chess.com servers. That is because of two reasons. Firstly, live.chess.com access has different routing approach compared to the rest of the site. Because of its nature, it cannot be routed using distributed system we are using for other chess.com pages, which allows faster access to the pages, but doesn't work under high traffic with small messages we are using for live.chess.com system. Secondly, the high traffic with small messages might have special treatment at some nodes as that is not standard webpage traffic, but a modern approach to http protocol. Anyway, even though we think that is out of our control, we are investigating the issue and preparing more monitoring tools (right now). Perhaps, we'll also have some info from our members after they speak to DT to know why live.chess.com domain is sometimes not available. Thanks!
