puzzles difficulty resets to Standard

I set my Puzzles difficulty to extra hard instead of standard, both on the cog icon in the puzzles UI and in my app settings (android). every time I close and re open the app it resets to the default difficulty instead of remembering my setting.

Are you doing regular rated puzzles and not the Puzzle Points feature?
