Yes, it resets your puzzle rating, but the last time I did it it reset to 400. I think it also resets your failed puzzles and theme percentages as well

I am scoring 5 points per puzzle solved. I believe I can change settings for harder but not much proportionately which score higher points. As I am having approximately 30 points deducted for failing to solve it is proving a big setback.

If you're on the website you can modify your puzzle Difficulty setting in the main settings or the settings icon on the puzzle feature.
On Android the option is available on app version 4.9.1
