Some years ago I remember that we could choose difficulty from 1 to 10. I could fairly easy win against 6. Level 7 was significant more difficult but I did win on some occasion. Level 8 was impossible for me. Now it is different. I am not sure if I remember the stated ELO values for the levels back then. I think it was
Level 6 1400
Level 7 1600
Level 8 1800
Level 10 was 2200 or 2300 I think
My question is can you confirm these figures ? I would like to set these old difficulties in a game now where we are given ELO values.
Another question. I see that now the highest level is stated to be 3200. Are the engines now really that strong ? For example should Magnus Carlsen don't stand a chance if I played here against the computer engine on highest difficulty ?
Those ratings were not real. Like the bot "ratings" now, they couldn't be, because the games were not timed and allowed takebacks.
