In practice, breaks are allowed albeit annoying to some opponents. You do not have to be away for extended periods.

Is it considered vacation abuse to not be unable to access chess.com, but also not be trying to delay a game?
I mean, what if you just feel like taking a break from online chess for a day or two, but still play on live chess, is that vacation abuse?
