I notice you're using Firefox 3. For me, in Firefox 3.0.5, it takes <=3 seconds for the board and pieces to appear--minutes is not normal.
The past few does with Firefox 3 I've been having some noticeably slower page loading times, generally the ones involving online chess were the slowest but it seems to be back to normal speed today.

cobra - are you running any addins or toolbars? can you notice what is loading in the background (through the status bar)? try clearing your internet cache entirely. and please let us know if it gets worked out!

Paging through the forums is fine. It's when I have to make a chess move - I get a blank board, at first, then where the pieces should be, tiny little icons appear firstly, then gradually the pieces start to fall into place, and there are times when the pieces don't even appear until I reload the page.
I can play a 15 minute blitz game in about an hour.
My internet connection is running at 128 and I'm using Firefox 3.0.6 with Java version 6.0.2.

What I've now noticed is that it waits for ages on "Waiting for PageAd2.GoogleSyndication.com" and "Transfering Data from www.google-analytic.com"
Come on now guys - I need some help - It takes +/-4 minutes for my chess board to appear and then another 5 minutes for the pieces to put themselves into place. Is this the norm?, even for non-payers, I think this is a crime.
