Student account creations

Hello,

I have recently found myself employed as a teacher at a school and I like the idea of creating accounts that students in my classes can play on to track their growth, but I don't want them to be able to chat with strangers online. The odds of something negative occurring on a chess website is low, I understand, but I am worried about whatever potential liability there is in allowing students to have such connections. Is there an easy way that I can have students create their own accounts to track their rating while also guaranteeing that they cannot use the chat functions?

Thank you!

If you go to the Settings, then to the Live Chess tab, near the bottom of the page you can select the settings for Game Chat; Everyone, Friends, or Nobody. (Make sure you click Save!) You would have to go to each individual account and modify that.

Thank you for question!

I want to create an educational account like other GM or IM when they are smurfing. How do i do that? I know the ELO will be given back to the opponent and that's why it is convinient so that i dont need to worry about them losing their ELO

You most likely can't. That option is very limited.

i know that it will be monitored by chess.com. Otherwise how can they give back the ELO to the players that they're playing?

You could use chesskid.com, they don't have private messaging and you can only choose from a few certain phrases to send in the chat like "Good Move"

I just want to second how great

ChessKid.com

is, the sister site to chesscom for kids. I showed it to some people before and it's a great site with nice training features as well!
