Swearing

Yeah, the best thing to do is take a screenshot of the insult, then trace the IP address, then kill the persons whole family, I think. That's my policy, anyways.

Remind me not to piss you off Rael . Jus report it to admin or egnore it and beat him/her at the game and dont play them again....

I say you call the police on the MONSTER! I never heard of such an act.....
I had a few occasions including one during Human mind Vs Computer (Vote chess) I thought it best to stop playing with them You can't change cultures

I must say I have never been sworn at while playing the computer.
Scratch that, my wife called me a lazy SOB once when I was playing against Fritz.
I blamed my loss on her.
As for all my other losses... I blame myself for swearing at Fritz.

In some countries / areas swearing is ok and everybody does it and in some other countries, nobody does it and it's insulting.
I think we must be open minded and understand that different cultures mean different scales for what is correct and what is not.
On the other hand we must be carefull when talking / chatting with people from other cultures since what is everyday natural behaviour for some of us might be chocking and insulting for others.
Basically tolerance understanding and kindness are the key.
Another point is that for most people here english is not their mother tongue. And even it may sound strange to some of you, lot of us are not native english speakers. I just mean that some people speak english but do not understand the anglosaxon culture and therefore they might be shocked by the directness of some native english speakers.
And also some non native english speakers do not fully get the actual rudeness of some words.
If swearing is "allowed" in some areas the words ain't swear words. How to define a swear word? In wiktionary; swear word: "A word considered taboo and impolite or offensive." Swear words are different in other areas becouse they different language and culture. Many "young"(?) people swear no matter if it is a swear word.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swear_wordIf you look at this site and scroll down a little bit you'll see what's a taboo to say in their language/country.
Edit:Besides it doesn't matter where do you live and what language you speak. The biggest thing that makes swear words to hurt your is your own mind. If other people swear what does it matter? You don't self have to swear, but you can say that you don't like swear word. What is to dislike about them? They are just words in your mind. A single swear word? How can it hurt? Wtf...lol... If we don't talk about swear words and talk about insulting people with words. You don't have to care about what other people say! Ofcourse I don't like if some random people on the internet screams to me "**** you! You are a piece of ****!". You'll get over it pretty quick. You don't have to come here and whine about it. It is just stupid to whine about a swear word.

Once on live I bet this random guy and then he said the "F" word we shall I do??
so what was the bet ?

Alexandre and Sukku your perspectives are good to read. I'm going to take a leap and say that English, for the two of you, is not your first language. Yet isn't it interesting that (Sukku) you are offended when someone swears at you? The point is not that anyone's "whining" about a swear word, it's that it's offensive--even if English is your second or third language--because it always connotes disrespect in a public forum. Your offense shows that you have a base of morality that you're working from. It's more concrete than relative, Alexandre; "tolerance understanding and kindness" works both ways: those that swear should be aware that for native speakers of English, there's no "two-way street" when we're being sworn at, i.e., to call someone an "a**hole" means the same thing in any tongue. Should you choose to use profanity in relation to yourself, what is that to me? I'm offended by it but I'm not your judge, Someone else is. But let us not kid one another with ridiculous notions of relativism: we all know what may offend someone else. Treat others the way you would have them treat you. Good question, Harry07.
