You get one try for rating, the other is just for your OCD. Tactics is fun - when I was a basic member I used to avidly do my 3 per day. Now I have the little gold star I usually do my 25 a day. I couldnt afford to get a higher membership - I would never be off the thing. One thing I do notice, the positions repeat occasionally.

thanks! sometimes I find myself "overthinking" them-- assuming the solution couldn't be the one that seems obvious-- but then it is precisely that one!
Tactics Trainer is about the best feature that Chess.com has. Or so I think. . .
Of course, the cases repeat occsionaly, That is due to the random system (aleatory seed) of the program.
The only thing I noticed is that they are either easy or difficult. Perhaps it would have been better to hace different categories, or levels (like in the PC games), and so you could better visualize your progress.

I failed on the first attempt on a problem in tactics trainer, and then hit "try again", and on the second attempt, I solved it fairly quickly. Yet when I went to the summary of my attempts on tactics trainer, it didn't include my solving the problem after the initial failed attempt. It simply didn't register that, and my rating didn't register it either. Why? thanks!
