The people monitoring this are being completely unfair

Swearing is not being monitored by people. It is an automated computer system. So if someone misspells the swear word, nothing happens.

By the way, what did you expect to gain by swearing back at the child who was swearing at you? How was this going to help you in any way? All you will have done is prove to the child that he has upset you, which was his goal in the first place.

Nixda

Once again I am impressed at how much anger a few pixels scrolling by can seem to cause.

While this does not seem limited to it, it seems to me emotions about this run especially high in the english-speaking community on the internet. Calm down if you get insulted, the only thing the offender it trying to do is making you feel angry.

Only you can make him succeed though.

I'm really not sure that getting this upset publicly over an automated event really does any good. Kohai said she sent you a message, discussing this issue with her directly will get a lot more done than ANYTHING that could be done on the forums.

What was censored? The only thing I see was in the first post, when the name of the other person was censored out. This is standard practice on the forums. You aren't allowed to call other members out on the forums, never have been.

Alright who is cencoring what i wrote here? It surely was not a computer program. I didnt write anything that could have been misconcieved as a curse word.  What I wrote to nixda was absolutely appropriate without being inflammatory....yet it has been censored.

Just checked your profile to confirm that you are a child and was surprised to see that you are exactly (give or take some minutes, I'm guessing) the same age as me. 44 years old, losing it on the Internet because a kid swore at you. Wow! get a grip. Seriously.

1. The kid was not censored because he deliberately mis-spelt his curse word.

2. You were kicked by the "auto-moderator" because your curse word obviously fell inside its dictionary.

3. No one gets extra cursing privileges here because they pay for membership.

4. For 99.99% of us, chess is only a game... chill.

p.s. Just in case next time the kid attacks you with soft fruit, a short training film:

You can dish it out, I wonder if you can take it? You insult me by acting as if I should not be upset at the treatment I have recieved here, and refer to thinking I was a child until you viewed my profile. What you dont know is that I wasnt too upset at the person who cursed me, I just returned the nasty banter when I had enough of his, but rather, I got very displeased with this site for punishing me and not him, when mine was a re-action after multiple attacks on me. I've been told that there is an automated filter for cursing, but why didnt it filter his curse word? The ones that WERE spelled corectly. Hence my querry as to which words were acceptable....NOT that I was expecting special cursing privileges as you have asserted.

Furthermore how about being accurate in your insults to me. For one thing you stated "nobody gets extra cursing privileges for being a paying member" and that is another falsehood that I have had to endure here. Please dont write lies about my conversations. I never requested any such thing. I did however inquire as to the rules of what is acceptable.

Chess is fun for me. I dearly love it. Here, it has been great as well, until I was harassed by an opponent to whom I was not even dignifying a response to at first, but when it continued I retaliated. That is when I was "kicked", started getting censored here in the forums, (even though my language has been completely clean), and now insulted by you as if I am just behaving like a child. When I play online should be perfectly understandable that I desire to have an amicable environment. When it is not, I certainly dont expect to be the one catching the criticism, being told its only a game, or diminishing my mental capacity, when I am trying to find a solution to a problem which I did not create. So how about you get a grip and keep it real....not just insult the victim.

That's it Champ, let it all out. A good cry will make you feel much better.

What was censored was my comment to the German who's handle is "Nixa" - they cut off the last couple of sentences which referred to there being a righteous anger and a time for standing up for what is right. It was censored and removed, although it was appropriate for the situation and his response.

How do you know for certain that no action was taken against the other person? Actions like that aren't announced to the room... Also, I ask again, why bring this here? There is nothing that can be done that isn't better accomplished by talking to Kohai privately.

VirtuousKnight

LOL at least you are funny...very unkind, but funny

Ziryab

My stock response when an opponent talks trash is "grow up and get some manners." That's if I choose to respond at all. Most of the time I do not.

[snip] it seems to me that the censored comments from me are not as inflammatory or insulting as yours, but you aren't being censored....do you work here?

Are you asking me?

No, I don't work for the site.

I'm certain mine could be construed as insulting, but I only send the comment to those that seem to want a response. Discipline can be harsh, especially if you are 44 and acting as though you are 6.

I have had comments removed from the forums. I don't talk much in live, and do not cuss there. My comment is most frequent on another server where a small number like to cuss at me in German when I beat them or snake a draw in a lost position because they either do not know how to checkmate, or cannot use their engine effectively with only ten seconds left.

I use the one built into Firefox. It helps that I know the differences among  their/they're/there because spell checkers lack the ability to highlight incorrect usage.
