Username issue

i changed my name once i want to change it one more time, i find my name is shallow and rude and boarder line sexist

Hey guys!  Our system is currently set up so that you can't change your username while our live chess server is active.  It takes a few minutes for your username to clear the live chess server, so even if you close the page, and try to make the change, you'll get blocked.  The next time you log in, before you go to live chess, change your username, and that should work.  If not, you can email us what happened and what username you want here https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new

hey guys, I had to wait about 10 mins after logging out on all devices for this error message to disappear and let me change the username.

You might want to add this to the error message if that's a thing.

Anyway, I think only 1 name change is a bit harsh. You could apply a cool-off period of x months after each username change, for instance.

1) Log off (sign out) from all devices except browser
2) Click on home -> live games - and close all games
3) Exit all active tournaments

4) hardest part -> WAIT ~3-10 min
5) U may change ur nickname now

Logging out of the site and closing any other open tabs would be sufficient.

no, i wasn't able to change nickname, unless I logged off from phone (or of cause it jsut takes more than 10min after finishing a game)

Logging out ends the live sessions, so logging off any device should allow the name change. I guess it's possible there is some lag in the session clearing, but based on past experience offering the advice, it's worked.
