by itself its no problem. But you are not from basque country. No such country. You are from spain. You want to be different from other people. You arent different from other people. Unless you personally want to stop paying taxes (tribute) to the leaders of spain and start collecting taxes from people of naverre instead there is not a good reason for you to even care (that would be a rather selfish reason anyway...unless you could argue honestly and objectively that you would be able to lead these people into some mutually beneficial prosperity or something). Your ancestors were defeated. Its ok.

Vamos a ver, chicos. Aquí me parece que estamos mezclando muchas cosas: Política, ideología y sentimientos independentistas... Es curioso que la bandera vasca (Ikurriña) no esté presente en este foro de AJEDREZ. Personalmente creo que sí debería haber una opción para elegir la Ikurriña, haya sido o no reconocida por equís órganos internacionales. La gallega y la catalana..., sí, pues también la vasca, ¿por qué no?
Pero también es verdad que oficialmente el País Vasco/Euskadi/Las Vascongadas o cómo se quiera llamar..., aún no es un país exactamente independiente. Y espero que nunca lo sea MIENTRAS siga existiendo algo así como ETA. Por eso me parece ignorante por parte de algunos de aquí afirmar que están a favor de la independencia del País Vasco. Lo mismo vale para Cataluña: Si quieren la independencia (por los motivos que sean), ¡que la obtengan! Pero sí por favor por la vía dialogante, pacífica y democrática...
Dear friends, I think we are mixing a lot of things here: Politics, Culture and Independent feelings. If we can choose here on this CHESS-forum for the Catalan and other "flags" of other "territorial zones with "independent feelings"..., I think that the Bask-flag should be also present. There is in Spain a political party PNV who also wants the independece but by a pacific way...
But the most important thing I would like to say is that you cannot wish the independent for the Basque Country meanwhile there is still a terrorist movement existing in Spain: ETA. But don't interpret me wrong: If the Bask want to go, they are free to go. Like the Catalans. But, please, the have to get this archiement by a democratic, PACIFIC and dialogic way!!!

Parece que por lo menos hay alguien que reconoce que es justo que los vascos podamos eligir la bandera en chess.com. Yo iria mås lejos y esta planteado, cada uno debería poder poner cualquier imagen que quiera en su bandera al igual que se hace para la imagen de tu cuenta, así no habria tanta discusion vana. PD en cataluña no hay ETA y tampoco se les da ni siquiera el derecho para decidir su propio futuro
Estoy de acuerdo contigo salvo en lo de "poner cualquier imagen"... Puede tener consecuencias negativas. Los símbolos y las imágenes (históricas) siempre son armas de doble filo, como tú bien sabrás. Imagínate que a uno le da por poner la "esvástica nazi"...
No, Xake33, está bien como está, sólo el detalle por parte de chess.com de incluir la bandera vasca... A ver si lo hacen lo antes posible y podemos seguir jugando al ajedrez.
El problema de Catalunya, la "consulta catalana" y todo eso es creo para otro foro, jajaja!
I agree with you except for the comment that you should could put "any picture"... This could have terrible consequences. Simbols and pictures cut always on two sides... And if someone for example would like to put a nazi symbol?
I think it is good like it is now, only chess.com should also consider the posibility to include the Bask-flag... I would like to know why not...
Anyway, maybe they put it soon and than we can go on playing chess..

Since I'm not into the whole violence thing, which the world has enough of, the friends thing sounds much better.
