I have played crazy house on rated a lot of times but could not get the Surprise achievement.

I think you have to play crazyhouse on the main site and not the variants

Oh wait it's simple :

Click on play, (which is in the menu at the right of your screen), and instead of standard select the variant you want. I had the achievements like that. Hope it's helpful.
