At any rate, I don't recall that Google play was ever listed as a payment option. Credit cards, Paypal, Bitcoin still work.

Google play balance may be used for Google play music and newsstand subscription but not for any other type of subscription..... yet the morons list redeem code as a payment option on all of their apps with in app purchases which is incredibly misleading.
