Why lost on time?

I set myself to vacation and when I came back all my games were lost on time.  VERY frustrating.

maybe you didn't save your changes... And I think vaction time doesn't apply in tournaments

Hey, I've had the same problem! I was 100% sure I put my vacation-mode on in a knock-out tournament. When I came back, I had lost 7 of 8 games due to time-out, and I resigned the remaining game because it made no sense to play it.

This is very anoying because those time-outs made my time-out ratio higher than 10% which means that I can't participate in tournaments... while actually the time-outs weren't my fault...

So please fix that! Frown

erikido23, according to our records you never went on vacation. Possibly you checked the box for vacation and then forgot to "save preferences" at the bottom of the page or you tried to go on vacation when it was still your move in one of your games. Note that to be able to go on vacation it must be your opponent's moves in all your games at the time of going on vacation.

Well, I thought I had just moved in all of my games. But, maybe not because I was positive that I clicked the save preferences button(it jumped out at me after I didn't get it right the first time)

shinrikyo, can you provide us the links to the specific games where the loss on time occurred which you feel was a mistake. We will check on this for you.

But, as a suggestion.  I think it would be nice if it would tell you that you are not being put on vacation for that reason.  As opposed to it telling you you are on vacation and then not doing it.  It just doesn't seem to make sense.

So, am I ever gonna get an answer on this?

We have checked on this for you and we do not see any errors in the system with your vacationing. In the future when you go on vacation you can always "Contact" us using the link at the bottom of any Chess.com page to confirm that your account is actually on vacation so that a circumstance like this does not occur again in the future.
