Yeah it's ridiculous and chess.com should be better.

But people still use seek graphs? lol. What do you think this is, 2005?

In order for it to dissapear I think you need to play 10 games in every variant, and on bullet blitz and rapid. It doesn't matter if you have played 10.000 blitz games, if you have never played ten KOth games you can't challenge premium members

I'm a premium member and have at least over 20 games in every single variant, so I doubt your explanation, because it has happened to me to.

If you read everything carefully you would understand. My original statement was wrong.

How can I challenge a titled player?

Newly created accounts have something called ‘newcomer status’, and a newcomer account can’t challenge titled players or premium players (unless they are friended).

So, if you’ve just created an account and you want to challenge Hikaru to a match, here’s what you need to do!

How do I get rid of my Newcomer status?

To remove newcomer status, your account must meet these two requirements:

  1. Your account must be open for 48 hours
  2. You must have played 8 games of any type

You must meet both of these! If you create a new account and play 8 games right away, you’ll still have to wait until your account is also 48 hours or more old!

And that’s it! Once those two requirements are met, newcomer status is automatically removed, you can challenge anyone.

I’m not a Newcomer, but I still can’t challenge Hikaru! What’s going on?

There is one more requirement to meet before you can challenge Titled players, and that is to have a low enough RD (rating deviation).

If you haven’t played any games in a while, or if you've never played any games of a certain type, your RD may be too high to challenge a titled player right away. You’ll have to play a few games first, to bring your RD down.

Here are the RD levels required to challenge a Titled player:

  • For blitz or any variant: RD must be below 80
  • For rapid: RD must be below 100
  • For bullet: RD must be below 60

You can find out what your RD is for any game type by going to your Stats page!

Those are the correct rules, read before you post

hey everyone. i was contacted by a staff member regarding this bug. i referenced this topic as well as showing what happens when i/we get shut out of games. they told me they are paying attention to this topic now, so any issues of being told we are not allowed to play can be posted here.

i was asked to try to play yesterday and then received this in live chess:

You cannot accept this challenge at this moment.
You cannot accept this challenge at this moment.
Phqbophobia

I got it too

2Nf31-0

ya same

logosity

Is it possible that the message "You can't accept this challenge at this moment" is given because someone else has just already accepted the challenge, and the titled players etc message is given when the person who has posted the challenge requires that those wishing to accept the challenge have to be of a certain minimum rating?

2Nf31-0

uh... u only played 300 games......

2Nf31-0

like 10000?

tbh i dont even know

Challenge failed.  Your are unable to challenge Titled and other protectedplayers until you have play more games.....what does this mean? My grandson gets this message when he challenges me.  I just paid for a membership....he has not.    Please reply:  wcparents@yahoo.com
