How much is "enough" to pay for the privilege of swearing indiscriminately?

reading the rules of the site may be of help to you in this regard.

Rules of Behavior

Chess.com is a friendly community. The following behavior is prohibited and can result in your being kicked or banned:

  • cheating
  • offensive/vulgar language/toilet humor
  • personal attacks
  • spamming or advertising other websites
  • religious or political topics
  • racism

choosing not to read them or p  leading ignorance is not satisfactory.

Funny you should bring up courtesy....

It's not a full out ban -- it will expire in 30 minutes.  Now that you know what triggers it, it should also be easy to avoid in the future.

You'll also have to pardon my lack of sympathy for someone who feels entitled to unnecessarily expose others in the community to profanities simply because they are a paying member.  Hopefully trig's citation of the relevant section of the terms of service, to which everyone agrees when they sign up, has cleared up this misconception.

I didn't hear anything you didn't say -- even if indirectly.

"I think I pay enough not to have this happen" means that you believe that as a result of being a paying member, you should not get booted when you swear, which also means that you feel you should should be entitled to swear without being booted.

I happen to disagree -- so does the site.

wow, you go at lengths to prove something. Congrats. I don't know how the inference that I feel "entitled to unnecessarily expose others in the community to profanities simply because I am a paying member" could be taken from I don't think I should be banned from playing because I said a swear, once- That's quite a leap. Do you always try to paint individuals in the poorest light possible, or are you just having a bad day? Feel free to keep contributing

Yep, this dude sure does feel entitled.  LOL.  I mean no offence, since you are a total "G", this should be water off your back.

i honestly don't think you even understand your own words in your first post. thegrobe is in the right in saying you directly stated that you are entitled to a warning instead of a banning because you are a paid member. believe it or not, the rules are not different for paying members versus non-paying members when it comes to behaviour.

know the rules that you agreed to and you won't have any problems in the future.

I was recently playing when I experienced some lag. That caused about 10 seconds to pass when I was in a winning position with mate to soon possibly come when I was flagged. Now I said, "expletive expletive lag" and now I'm unable to play live chess... The prompt shows "you have been kicked from live chess". First, I think I pay enough to not have this happen, and second, for you brilliant developers... wouldn't it seem a little more intuitive to ban chat... and not play???? Help would be appreciated

You pay enough not to have this happen?????? Were you under the impression that paying members can say what they want, while non paying members are censored!!!!!!!??????? Doesn't make sense.

Guys, there have been many threads on this. It is temporary. In all of them the following comment is applicable:

STOP THE HATE

I couldn't resist.

I believe you are permitted to use such 'colorful' language in private chat.

Why do you not excersise self control and when you feel like going off the tangent just disable your chat.

You are in control right?

Forum topics like these make me think of people in an electric fence cage. They touch the cage, with giangantic stickman warning signs with lightening bolts and flying carcases, and ZAP!!! Test subject 10005 flies through the air, hair looking like Don King, landing on the ground with a thud. Why did the fence shock me asks test subject 10005. Infinite shrug.
