Open an account, start a game, and see what time setting it starts on if you don't change it. That's what default means.
I mean, you guys who are really serious maybe don't understand people who like me just fart around. I mean, to get to your rating level I'd have to really work at it and someday (checks profile) whoops I'm already there now. Yikes.
The worst thing a beginner can be exposed to is some 15/10 or longer game that takes forever and they decide not to bother ever playing again out of boredom. Recreational chess is a thing.
As others have said many times on these forums: 10/5 really doesn't accomplish anything, either. You already have 5/5 and 15/10. What you really want is a 30+30 pool or something similar, with a classical rating on here. Playing 10/5 isn't really the kind of time control that's helping people seriously improve.
I find it ironic that you attack people who spend time playing chess, and then you complain about people not wanting to improve and playing speed chess.
I find it strange how you like to take normal discussion and drag it back a few days.
