Hello,
I am wondering on wether the 50-move rule is implemented on chess.com live chess, and if so, does one of the player have to request the draw or is it automatically drawn by the server ?
I was wondering after the following game : https://www.chess.com/live/game/3201216550 .
From the last pawn move on move 50, the position is 100% blocked and we just have random king moves, up to move 120 when draw was declared by the system for threefold repetition (not for 50-move rule, according to the message I had on screen). So this was 70 moves without a pawn moving or a capture, drawn should have been declared at move 101 according to official chess rules isn't it ? I proposed a draw three times and my opponent refused three times, possibly hoping to win on time since he had more time than me left on his clock. I am not sure however if one of my three draw proposal was made after move 101.
Also, after the threefold repetition, is the draw automatically given by the system or does one of the players have to request it ? In that game, I did not make the request at the time the draw was granted.
Also, last question about this topic, what happens if one of the player loses on time after more than 50 idle moves ? Is a draw granted like it is the case for insufficient material ? Or is it a win for the opponent ?
Maybe the answer is already somewhere on the site, I just didn't find it...
Thanks !
You have to claim it. I don't believe the system did anything. Your opponent must have hit the draw button at the end.
If you had let the time run out, I believe you would have lost, since the system would not have considered material insufficient.
