Are 5 min live seeks slower now?

In the past few days or so seeks have gotten considerably slower - it takes me sometimes 20-30 seconds or more to find a game - where as for years it was nearly instantaneous. I doubt there are fewer matched players in the range I hang out in, so what explains it?
