Rapid cuz its the normal 10min ![]()
Blitz vs Rapid?
Blitz ratings are closest to people’s FIDE ratings. Rapid ratings tend to be inflated eg. A 1600 FIDE player is more likely to be 2000 rapid online but might be 1700 or 1800 blitz online.
While playing Rapid is more closer to classical than Blitz.

Rapids inflated by around 200-400 points typically up until 2000 elo anyways then rapid becomes the lower rated one online rapid is kinda bit meaningless since most otb players play mostly blitz online plus we just don't have the time anyways
So online I would say blitz after a certain point but for most beginners rapid is more accurate tho since they have the larger pool
rapid is like slow calculative whereas blitz is way more instinct moves... I pick rapid cuz i calculate better without time pressure
Rapid of course. The longer time format the more chance for you to approach the game strategically. Bullet has its charms as well, though. It is useful to practice openings.
Neither one. My USCF is 1437. My blitz rating is way below that. My rapid rating is well above that. My daily game rating is above that as well (but is the closest of the bunch). My puzzle ranking is considerably higher than even my rapid rating.
The rating pools are very very different. The time conditions are also very very different. The ONLY way to get a real idea of your rating is to actually go to tournaments, put in enough games so you are no longer provisional, and find out.
Not the answer you want, but "It is what it is."
Ratings are great for telling relative ranking within a particular rating pool. Trying to get more than that is an exercise in dubious statistics.
Sorry Weirdaustrian. No classical category on chess.com.
There is another site which does have though.

Classical is still better tho
Do you think that Blitz or Rapid has a more accurate conversion to the true USCF or FIDE rating?
Of course its definitely going to be rapid, though there may be some conversion to deal with inflation as less people on this site play rapid than blitz. But blitz will definitely be skewed since people wont have enough time to think through complications they'd crush in proper time controls.
