Blitz?

Okay, this is going to sound silly,but I played a blitz game for the first time today. It was fun and nerve wracking. I lost on time; I don't know how this works. Can someone please explain to me?

in blitz each player has 5 mins to make all thier moves. u just ran outa time on your clock

Sometimes during blitz mode my opponent gets extra time, how's that work? pls answer

This usually can mean 2 things:

1. Your playing with incerement.

2. Chess.com is compensating for lag

here are the time controls you can use there are 3|0 and 3|2 and 5|0 and 5|2 and 5|5 and 10 mins the thing after the line is how much extra mins u can get for each move
