Can we play Chess with bet?

Everyone is saying it is a horrible idea. But for Magic: the Gathering their online program is wildly successful and you can beat real money in there. People spend 30$ to have a place in one tournament.

Anybody want to play for money now?

I prefer my gambling to be in real life and with actual chances of winning. craps (street dice) and scratchers are where I get my gambling thrills. the odds are based on complete chance, where as with chess, the players' skill would take away the element of chance.

If it weren't for cheaters, that would be a great idea. F'ng cheaters ruin everything.

Ok...so there is no legit source? I have an account with Chess2play.com but I haven't updated any monetary info. I LOVE the idea of playing Chess for money.

I'm more interested in cash prizes for tournaments in rated divisions. You might say that computer use would be prevalent there as well but if ratings went up much more quickly than they went down then I can see this working. You might win a tournament or two with your computer and make $200 but then your rating quickly jumps and you aren't eligible any more for that division. Also you get a bad rep that would extend beyond this one website. Could you play your computer in the Open division? Sure, along with everyone else.

Not every game needs a monetary value attached to be interesting. I personally think chess is fun as it is and placing bets is just necessary. There are other games you can play for money.

As an amateur player w/o plans of pursuing a career for this game, Betting idea makes this game more interesting and exciting(fun) . But with out proper platform or apps for this, It all just a matter of Trust! Trust that the losing player will pay you evil.png

I bet on games for fun to be honest. It makes it more fun when you are winning, and more stressful when you know you have to pay up. No site could ever condone it, but between friends it's separate in my mind. Feel free to message me

I am developing a website where it is possible to win thousands of dollars or be in the money where the odds are one in 100. Cheaters and sandbaggers have little chance to win as it is set up as a 4 person team event with the teams made up based on their position in the sort of the event roster. Scoring is based on how well you do against your average of rank/rating. Add the last seven of your rank/ratings and then divide by seven. That is your average. Then, when you play a new match, you take the last six rank/ratings and add the most recent match outcome. Subtract your oldest average from your new average and that is the point total added to your team. Add the point totals for the team and compare them to all the other teams to determine the winner. To see a simulation of how it will be done, in collaboration with chess.com, visit www.4teamchess.com It will be legal as chess is a game of skill and is not gambling. You would be paying a $6 entry fee and the payout would be 80% of that. It is still in development but it has the blessing of erik.

the tournament is DESIGNED for SOMEDAY allowing an OPTION to choose to pay to enter, but more importantly, it is FREE to play and will stay that way.
