That may be but those who do are continuously ruining it for those who don't

Is a rating of 2900+ suspicious? I saw someone with 2908 in quick today. He didn't seem to be a titled player or anything either.

my dad is not a cheater and he rarely loses it depends on skill. if they have a hi rating, don't asume they cheat:(:(:(

I think that the possibility exists that a high rating could be suspect only if you can track in history HOW that player is playing.  His playing style should give some indication.  For example, constantly winning with no losses or draws along the way.  You would think a good player, knowing he is beat, would resign, but when both players are good, and know they are simply dancing around the board, one would eventually say "well, we're pretty even.  Wanna draw?" and the other player would hopefully be virtuous enough to accept a draw.

Not having any draws (not that I am expert in this matter!:) ) to me would be a sign.

If you resign you lose, if you play it to the end at least you have a chance! I would play to the end and therefore wouldn't have any draws!

Forgive me Chess Champ - I meant that when you obviously are outmatched - for example my rating is 897 but my friend is up to 1600.  He always manages to by about 20 moves into the game get me to see that if I am looking 5 moves ahead, there is no winning outcome for me no matter what moves I choose.  I'm just referring to eliminating probability of winning by a certain point.  Say, 10 moves from mate, you know if someone does this...this...and this...you will win.  And so forth.
Chess_Champion26
STill you can never actually know that you're opponent will relise this mate threat!!!

Or they see it but move the wrong piece and click "submit" LOL!!!

Chess_Champion26

yes i hate when that happens... to me

Agreed on the 2 hack.  But Quake III for PC is better than Halo2 for XBOX (with a good video card on your PC)

Chess_Champion26

I think halo and quake is off topic, and i hardly agree about  halo 2 being better

GET ON TOPIC!

NoNam31001001

Back on topic...it's easier to cheat at chess (online) than it is to cheat on Halo2 for Xbox.  I read all the posts in this forum, and apparently there is software programs available that do the cheating for you.  What ever happened to good old brain power?  Or would some out there argue it takes more brain power to cheat?

Chess_Champion26

Only losers use fritz, chessmaster, etc. to win at live chess:

Why the attitude timmay(livinalie)? Telling someone to play checkers if they lose..and it does matter if someone is cheating. Your advise seems suspecious to me. Kinda like you taking the cheating thing personal a bit huh?

NoNam31001001

I think Timmy might have looked at my stats and seen through my posts I am an honest (but lousy) player and was suggesting if you aren't good at something try something else? LOL.

?

the only people they are cheating is themselves, missing out on the fun part of the game and the buzz of winning honestly, or indeed learning something through defeat.

mr_obnauseous

I take it as a compliment; 2 versus 1.  The opponent thinks so highly of you that he has to resort to another source.
