Chess.com will intentionaly make you lose in time, if youre a beginner with low elo and start winning  too much games in a row, in the next match, the site will stop your clock instantly after a number of moves so the opponent can win in time, another way is bringing down your internet connection as son as you gain advantage so you lose time reconecting, they wont stop doing this until you pay the membership, the only way to avoid this without paying is registering your account as intermediate or advanced, then your default elo will be above 1600 and this wont happen. If you're doesnt have a 1600+ account and can't pay the membership I suggest you  to start using Lichess.com instead.

Some big accusations there, but I got to 2000 without a membership.

LOL.

Have you proven this?

Have you plated many games, bought a membership, then played more?

Have you tried this on many different Wi-Fi networks?

No you haven’t. I think it’s just your internet

That's a wifi problem... Hate to say it to you but chess.com doesn't have some secret ulterior motive

I see no problems, the guy relaxed and is still playing here

So much for using Lichess

Avatar of SixInchSamurai

I use both, both have pros and cons

chesscom doesn't have the power to control your internet or your time lol

and even if they did, they wouldn't just disconnect you for you to buy membership... they want to maintain their millions of players with a playful environment

buddy give the phone back to mom, stay healthy.

chess.com does not force you in any ways to buy memberships . you cant just simply put an accusation . If you think you need membership you buy it but no one is forcing you to buy memberships

Guys, I don’t know about Live Games if this is true or not, but I can certainly say that from the time they made changes to the site, like a few weeks ago, my Puzzle Rating page keep reloading when I try to resolve the puzzles, very annoying. I wrote CHESScom a few messages about this, still no answer and no improvement.

Apart from that, it happens to do a puzzle right and still be robbed of rating points. See my second message to CHESScom bellow (to the first one I received no answer):

The puzzle starts with black’s move: Kd3 and my first move is Re7. It was considered wrong by chess.com engine and lost 15 points. Immediately I checked the puzzle on unrated page, I did the same move 1.Re7, and this time it was right, followed by …Bxe7 2.Kxe7+ Qxe7 3.Bxe7 and stoped here with success.

I have a non-paying account and I accept only Functional and Performance Cookies. Maybe this is the problem, chess.com doesn’t made enough money with my account or my personal info. Like OP said, it seems like a retaliation against non-paying users.

You can LOL, until the end of times, THIS 👆seems to be the truth.

Proof?

yeah... I'd also say you can't really say such things without serious proof... I also use only the free features of the site, so I have a non paying account, and I do not have any similar issue...

If chess.com even has the ability to change your internet speed to McDonald’s wifi level then might as well switch to lichess. Like chess.com could do that anyway

Best way around this is to load up the page again after say 4 or 5 games, also if you're on the verge of leveling up say from 990+ to 1000 then I'd highly recommend refreshing the page before that level up match as it will lag.

Most of the time the lag is just your own brain lagging, it's the psychological effect I like to call "clockwatching" where by if you've been lagging in previous game(s) you'll now check the clock more often losing both time and concentration.

The op is overly paranoid though I mean as if chess. Com would single out an individual or member for special treatment...
