chess.com makes my wifi disconnect from my router

i can have a stable connection for hours, play many games of dota with a completely stable connection but guaranteed once i play live chess this triggers a wifi disconnect. i would say if i play 3-4 5m blitz games i will have 1-2 wifi disconnects

has anyone else had this problem or would know where to begin troubleshooting this problem?

I know you won't believe this but there are many pages giving advice for people who experience connection problems with Dota. If the Dota servers are so impeccable, why do they exist?

Some of the same advice may help you fix your connection problems with Chess.com.

They recommend using a wired connection, power cycling your router, various things.

Same problem here - I've reported it and I get the same nonsense "covery your eyes and look the other way" response.

I would guess one of two things:

1) error on chess.com side, nothing you can really do about that.

2) your isp picks a bad route to connect you to chess.com.

If you don’t use a vpn, try to use one to connect to chess.com, there are some free ones you can try online, I think the one I’ve tried in the past was called proton? or proto or something similar.

If you already use a vpn try connecting to chess.com without it

For whatever reason this was recommended to me and worked for me regarding minecraft realms, so it might work in this case too. GL

That sounds frustrating. It's possible that playing live chess on chess.com is triggering some sort of conflict with your Wi-Fi settings. To troubleshoot, you might want to start by checking if there are any firmware updates available for your router. You can follow the steps outlined in this guide from routerctrl.com to log in to your Verizon Fios router and check for updates. Additionally, you could try changing the wireless channel on your router to see if that helps. Sometimes, interference from other devices can cause connectivity issues. Experimenting with different channels can sometimes improve the stability of your connection.
