Discovered why Chess.com is so slow

I discovered why live chess is so slow at times even with a great connection. Noticed weird ad redirect links poping up at the bottom in chrome during certain lagging times, which led me to...

The solution: I installed AdBlock (chrome) and no more lag (and no more annoying ads). During a game of live chess, AdBlock was blocking 53 ads at one point! Shame on you chess.com. Runs perfect now.

Thanks ---- I'm having big problems in the live server today and that might be it.

Unfortunately, you are correct OP.  I recently had my premium account run out and dropped back as a regular member.  I played for some time without a blocker but time loss became critical and finally resorted to re-enabling it.

There should really be a limit as to how many adverts are displayed on the screen at one time.  Adblock itself adds overhead so I could live with advertising that limits itself to, or near, what that overhead is.

Get ublock.  Way less overhead than adblock.

We did notice that for some reason, some ads were making things slow in live chess this week. We are still trying to hunt down the source. Meanwhile, we have disabled that ad unit and replaced it with a Chess.com banner until we figure out the issue!
