false "resigning"

Is there anyway to correct a game which says resigned and clearly was not?  I was playing a game against Computer-Medium today. Having sound problems in the game.  Wanted to sign out sign back on.  Plently of time.  Came back on and my record shows "lost by resignation".  That's total BS.  That's the first I ever heard of that.  It's really annoyinng since it's erronous on the record.  I guess that happens to everyone else too, but I find it really annoying.  That's not resigning.  It wasn't intended as resigning.  I'd be a lot more angry if that happened in a "live" game with a person.  They'd get a false win, and I'd get a false loss.  We'd both be cheated on the game.  That shouldn't happen, ever.

Also there apprears to be an ongoing and pesky problem with sound besides all this.  I've got full sound on the computer, but none on Chess.Com, specifically on "Live" play.  I've been checking with other on-going games and mute for those too. It just started happening today.  I don't understand this.

Jollyman isn't so jolly.  I think you timed out, although you say you didn't.  Timing out is the only logical explaination here in my view.

No it had nothing to do with timing out. That's not helpful at all.  Why would I even mention it if it were "timing out"?  Besides it wouldn't have said "resignation" would it?  It would of said "lost by time".  That's really thick headed of you fella.  Why post such dense responses?  Not helpful.

Jollyman is mad!  It's a computer error.  Move on!

When you sign out, you automatically forfeit the unfinished game you are playing at that moment

I didn't know that at all.  Would not of expected that.  Would of expected that it would just go by the time.  It think that's kind of messed up.--DMJ

Supplemental.  This is also messed up.  With TIME mind you, if you even switch over to check on postal games, the system makes it "abandoned".  So you get bollixed by signing out temporarily WITH TIME, and you get bollixed if you simply check on other games WITH TIME for 2 or 3 lousy minutes!  That makes two losses for me which were false being either "resigned", which didn't happen, or "abandoned", which didn't happen.  These things ought to get changed.  I think that warps the play and the results.  It's rightly irritating I'd say.

I guess that has to happen to everyone.  I just don't care for it, myself.  Maybe there is a theory about all the false resluts cancelling each other out;  The people you play sign out mistakenly or check on other postal games, they get screwed over, you have more wins.  On the other hand you mistakenly sign out or check on postal and you get screwed over, and they have wins off you.  Cancel, cancel, and the score is the same.  Maybe.

Why not have the timed games just default with the time runs out only?  That's the way it's supposed to be.

Interesting topic...I've seen a few glitches here and there Derek.I know the ratings and won/loss mean something but to me it's all a head trip. There's nothing like playing a live opponent and moving the pieces.I might hit the Burlingame chess club tonight and drop in on an unsuspecting expert or two.I love the look on their face when I say "Check Mate"...lol

Computer games are just learning tools and my record against them mean zip to me.I get mad at myself sometimes for a blunder(shit happens) but I move on and set em up again.

Timing out is my problem since online games are just practice and it bores the crap outta me.I forget my time and go damn I thought it was his turn. That's why I only play a few games at a time.
