Maybe a widescreen and fullscreen option? 1024x768 and 1680x1050 have very different needs, but good idea! I agree!
Fullscreen Live Chess

this is a great idea :) in fact, we're already moving this direction. curiously though, what is your monitor resolution?

One thing I might take this opportunity to mention is that I've found the window controls (moving and resizing) in the existing version to be somewhat clumsy. A couple pet-peeve in particular:
- Clicking on a window to give it the focus (say the seeks window, for example) doesn't bring the window to the front, so I'm stuck moving or resizing the chat window to unveil the "Create Seek" button.
- Move and re-size control not at a fine enough level -- it seems to only allow moves and re-sizes in ~10 pixel jumps.
- Not resizing of the contents of a window on re-size -- the chat entry boxes often get cut off when resizing and can be very difficult to recover (in part for the reasons above). I think it would be better to re-size the chat history before cutting off the chat box (within reason, of course), particularly in the game-board window.
I'm hoping with the new version that the opportunity will be taken to address this minor look-and-feel annoyances along with some of the other great suggestions like full-screen mode.
Looking forward to it.

1280 x 800 (widescreen). I think it's still pretty common though :p
I have noticed that using a Large board on live chess, it almost goes off the screen, and I have a pretty big resolution already. Not to mention that everything else going on in my screen usually gets me pretty distracted. I suggest a full screen mode (possibly to be released with live chess 2.0) that would be sleek and easy to use. Here is a quick 5 minute mockup:
Of course this is a very rough copy and has a few things missing. Player names could be moved to the side to create a bit of breathing room on the top and bottom of the screen and the way-too-big move-list box is a bit smaller to make room for this. Windows can be minimized to the side, making this layout very customizable. As I said this is a rough draft, I haven't put in a chat or anything yet but I think it's a valid idea. This would definetly put more emphasis on the chess board, where it needs to be!
If you like this mockup I could spend 30 minutes to make a much better one.
