How to Castle in Live Chess

I tried to Castle during a live match, but I couldn't do it. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I think I may have chosen the rook to move before the king. Are you supposed to move the king before you move the rook?

Sharp_nV

Yes. I have never had a problem.

the rook can move to the place you wish her to moove without casteling, but the king dosen't, wich means you need to move the king

castling

Drag the king two places toward the rook, the computer swaps their positions but only as long as there is nothing between the the pieces, neither has been moved in that game and the king must not be in check,or pass through check.

I cannot castle either.  I am in Live Chess, and it will not let me.

Perhaps someone affected should drop a note to chess.com.  It is ok in OTB USCF chess to touch the rook first if you move it to the square it belongs in castling, then move the king.  I was a USCF Tournament Director for my County School System's tournaments and I can't tell you how many times kids would object that their opponent touched the rook first and argue with me that, "My dad says you have to touch the king first."

It happened so often I bookmarked rule 10I2 in the USCF rule book: "10I2 Rook touched first. If a player intending to castle touches the rook first, there is no penalty unless castling is illegal, the player must move the rook if legal."

Of course, make sure you are eligible to castle: the K and R involved can't have previously moved, the K can't be in or pass through check at any point in castling, there can't be a piece between the K and R involved.
