To change the board (size, colour, etc.), after entering the Live Chess section, at the upper right of the lower right quadrant (Tabs: Console, Friends, Chat, [icon])click the small tab with a dark grey irregular circle [icon] inside a lighter grey tab.

Then choose: 'Style', to select your board (& piece) options.

You can choose white always at the bottom of the board, regardless of who is playing, that's the only additional setting I'm aware of that might answer your question.
