there is a cure, although it is slow and onerous: wait them out, get the win, and then block them from ever playing you or seeing you again.

I'm not sure I understood this. Lets be clear, I don't mind wining easy games. And I will not bother blocking people for that, as that they have not done anything to me, and what are the chances that I find that person again in 3000+ live players every day.
any minute, geek is gonna come here and argue and ask you "how do you know they haven't been disconnected? (and make you feel stupid for bringing up this problem.)"

Most people will brag to me saying...

Somehow I doubt this is a disconnect. :)
clearcanada, when that happens, it would be appreciated if you'd send the person's name in to support, so that we can send them a warning.
When someone is disconnected after some time, if reconnect does not happen he loses game by abortion. And you can see msg in red when someone is disconnected and reconnected.

I hate to say it, but lately I could spend all day reporting sexual and violent insults, so the time wasting thing has not been a high priority.

Some days ago I went to a lost position & tried to hit the resign button, but it didn't work... So... Maybe... Who knows?...
Point is, it's all legal. It just does not make sense.
I know I'm relatively new to this site but I have yet to see any of that behavior here. However to point out, that kind of crap was exactly why I quit playing on FICS years ago and was soured on online chess. Only after a friend of mine told me about this site and the fact that there wasn't much of it happening here did I come back. So far, I haven't had a single rude problem.

<we do not care> community. Lets talk about people who do not want to resign, and vacation abuse. That has good audience any time.
I can understand point that someone wants to play K vs K+Q+R+B+B+4pawns end game to learn something. But what kind of motivation can one have to stop playing ( not being disconnected, as there is msg when one is), and after 10 min when game is over, you see him sending new challenge in few sec after.

Whats the point of creating 15 min live game, losing everything in 3.5 min, and then letting time go away and lose game.
Why not just resign? If you are going to let time expire, why not save us 10-15 min and hit resign button right away.
This is just bad behavior of live chess players that I encounter more and more often this days.
And I am not talking about disconnected players. They are here all the time.
