I did that once, but having the confirm button is kind of cheating. on a real game, once you play you're move, you can't confirm it.

You can’t mouse slip OTB.

An extra "confirm" would be detrimental to anyone under time constraints. Bad idea.

It really wouldn't. Anyone who loses to time running out would lose to that regardless. Plus, if someone is running low on time, they may be even more prone to missclick due to being on edge. It is more of a leap in logic that the player will lose to time if they have to confirm. It should at least be an option for the computer version.

Sorry but that doesn't make sense.  Games are often decided by a couple of of seconds.  To say that any additional required action wouldn't make a difference is incorrect

All these people saying “we don’t want it, it would be a bad idea for the game” First of all its all ready on the phone App Android or iOS and lastly guys/gals and others Hope y’all realize that there’s a little button u hit to turn this feature on and off. Not to mention it’s off by default so you would never know it if this was added.

Dahlanadamson

Wrong.  There are people on this forum who agree with me that move confirmation is the equivalent of making a move and then taking it back.  Illegal otb, and should be removed as an option in all formats except daily.

I would think of the confirmation button as keeping your hand on the piece, as in over the board if u dont let go of the piece u can take it back so what would be the differences. Like it said, its off by default and the chess.com app on phones already have this feature. I wouldnt see no reason not to add it.

SoHi Chess.com team! PLEASE!!! Can you get us a "confirm move" option for laptop?? I've lost many games due to slippy fingers! At least for the rapid games. It's really frustrating to be playing for 30 minutes and losing your queen just because it got a square below the one you actually meant!

Indeed.

Does move confirm takes on time of our move

rdjackson1983

yes you keep losing your time until u hit confirm, I wouldnt use "confirm move" on a 2 or 3min game but 10min games I use it on my phone. Not to beat a dead horse but this is a option ALREADY on android and ios phones, its just turned off by default

Calamity_Destroyer

alright but then just play on ur phone in that case

Calamity_Destroyer

whats the problem with that

I would love an option to confirm move in live chess. (using Windows 10 Chrome)

My mouse has developed an annoying occasional habit of dropping my piece en route to its destination, so if I'm exchanging Queens for example it can drop mine 2 squares short - free Queen, game ruined. This is happening more frequently and is starting to put me off playing Live.

I understand this could be a hindrance for me when I get low on time, but I tend to play 30 mins games in live anyway. Just want the option folks - that's all!

Please?

Actually, without the confirm option, players could still drag their piece and look without letting go and pop it back to where it was.

Also, tournaments often employ the 'touch move' rule which allows you to keep your finger on the moved piece and change your mind, providing that you must now move that piece on the same turn.

I'd be happy to incorporate that same rule. My mouse occasionally drops my piece early and I end up having to resign - too many excellent games have been ruined because of this and it's putting me off Live Chess, which I love.

You can choose in your settings to not have to drag your pieces.  You can click a piece and then click the destination square.
