Move confirmation

Yes, I agree I really hope that they implement a confirm button even if it's just a clock with the spacebar.

AS AN OPTION

You can buy mice for pretty cheap.

Please add confirm option for pc, or at least make it so move doesn't count UNTIL the mouse is released, that is like taking hand off of piece.

What is the hip term for when an unintentional move is played? "S.H.I.T"? -Should Haven't Initialized Touch or "F.U.C.C!"?- Forgot U Can't Confirm

So is there any way to have a confirm button on a PC? I see people have been asking this for 6 years but was it ever implemented? Where can I find it?

Then turn it off. And generally, it should be off by default.

You really don't get the point. Turn it off for your opponent? Very clever. The point is (for all the dudes here who don't read the thread carefully) ! IF THE OPPONENT PLAYS ON IOS OR ANDROID HE HAS THE ADVANTAGE OF MOVE CONFIRMATION WHILE PEOPLE PLAY ON BROWSERS DON'T HAVE THIS ADVANTAGE ! I hope now even the last hillbilly got the point.

But the advantage, which I view as cheating, should be taken away from those who have it,  rather than giving it to everyone.

True though, whichever solution chosen should be the same for all players.

But letting people move a piece, take their hand off to look at the position, then grab the piece and move it back, just goes against the rules of the game, and what people are asking for is the computer equivalent to that OTB example.

I agree with you on the last part. Its super helpful to visualize your move and shouldn't be allowed. Instead of placing your piece there for the confirmation, it should just draw an arrow.

you guys make a good point, but why have the feature on the app but not on the website? I think that's the main idea of this thread

I don`t understand this discussion. There are soooo many settings you can individually adjust, but that is too much to ask? I play more on my phone than on the browser for that simple reason. It could easily be installed as an optional feature, so those who want to use it, can use it and those who don´t just don´t. I would be really grateful, if that feature would become a thing. pleaseee make it happen. Specially as a beginner it is really helpful.

yeah, it's kind of sad that you have to explain to people that the feature would be optional. I figured it was common sense, but I guess it's not so common to people who play chess

I can't believe we have to actually post a thread to ask them for a confirm button its unbelievable

More unbelievable that it has been ignored for years.

Literally almost a decade.

mykossenmcbrossen

I would like a confirmation option.

Gralen84

I love having the confirm button on my phone, as there's many times I impulsively make a move and that extra second to hit confirm forces me to pause and double-check.  When I play on my phone I get much higher rates of accuracy compared to on the PC where there's no confirm button.  I can see that they have a confirm button in daily chess, why not live chess on the computer?

KingMoored

The online chess app is a killer application when using a tablet. For about the same price as a cheap plastic chess set, you can get a 10 inch Android tablet and play your Live games using that.  If you use the 3D chess pieces with a textured board, you can achieve a fairly impressive 2 1/2D OTB feel to the game. happy.png

Nobody is in the other side of this forum. Nobody. All we want is the 'option'.

I lost 2 games last week because I accidentally slipped on my mousepad. Please install the optional confirm button for all users.

There is a confirmation button already. Just turn it to Green.

PeterVerreyde

Yuuto, Thanks for the reply, but I only seem to have that option in Daily Chess. I don't see it when playing Live Chess (games max. 60 minutes) on my laptop. It's in Dutch, but as you can see, the first option is activating pre-moves and not confirmation of each move.

Wrong.  There are people on this forum who agree with me that move confirmation is the equivalent of making a move and then taking it back.  Illegal otb, and should be removed as an option in all formats except daily.
