My opponent gets time added on when in a time scramble.

I've just started playing live chess here and my last game (which luckily I won) had a time scramble finish and my opponent was on like less than 20 seconds left (I also had less than 20 seconds on the clock) but then gets like a few seconds added on when he makes a move. I would of been like peeved off if I would of lost that game on time because I would of been hard done by this addition of my opponent's time.
