need someone to practice openings with
Any particular ones you would like? Cause I want to do some work in alot of things, but particularly Nimzo/KID and the Sicilian.
What you all need to sharpen an opening is to know the ideas and themes there. Make sure you get this first before practicing (to make the practice effective).
Don't let your ignorance about the ideas and themes forces you to make a false judgement about the opening.
Hi johnniebravo2012, I don't think that "opening ideas" and studies are very useful at 1400 level, because opening theory usually contain positional concept that is too advanced for that level. But I'm preparing to write ideas to explain the basic ideas behind each move in one common opening.
"Opening themes" (especially the attacking themes) are usually more useful for 1400 level. It is to teach the common way to handle the position or to carry out certain plan. This can be studied by looking into some assorted (classical) games that show these important themes. By knowing these themes, a player will have no difficulty to build a plan during the game. A coach usually knows which games to show to his students.
Hi johnniebravo2012, I have finished writing about Ruy Lopez opening. I posted it in my blog so I (and others) can easily track it, or I can update it if there is mistake or improvement.
