I haven't seen that. May just be a caching issue.

Can't be cache: same issue on two different devices. Also, I'm using the iOS app on both. I asked because I'm one of those players. Strangely, I only miss my flag on live games, on 7 day games it shows normally.

I see the flag fine here in the forums. It might be iOS related though.
If you don't find the flag near the opponent's name while playing against him, just visit his profile, and you will find his flag near the name.
A strange thing is, when I put the pointer on doncasmurro's name without clicking, it shows Andorra's flag.

Yes, I actually changed my nationality a few times before to troll people. And now my flag doesn't show every time I play.
You also have an 'x' symbol next to your flag.
