Players using computers against you?

The site says this Saintpauliana :
Chess is a wonderful game where you can compete against the mind of another.
Don't cheat yourself and your opponent by letting someone else or something else think for you. Play your own game. Then when you win, you'll be proud of your victory. The empty feeling of "winning" against your opponent when letting your computer think for you is hollow and pathetic.
We actively police cheating and are always improving our detection methods. If you feel you have been cheated, please contact support.

To Netzach, I understand that you all probably cannot reveal your "detection methods", although I am tempted to ask. As for me with the present instance, it was just a "feeling" (I did "feel" I had been cheated), but feelings are not very substantive.
Anyway, I was playing an opponent of equal ranking and yet I just had the feeling that I was playing someone much, much more experienced and capable. That is his/her modest ranking did not correlate in my mind with the prowess being exhibited by the moves, etc.
It was a very frustrating game and then suddenly I just had the thought: 'I wonder if this person is using a computer'. Have any of you ever had that feeling?
Thanks, and keep in mind, please, I am VERY NEW here. OK?
Cheers, SP

Of course ! (had that feeling also) but wouldn't let it get you down.
You could report your suspicion or just move-on & do not play that person again.
You are able to have games you play computer-analysed by the site afterwards & this often helps confirm or refute suspicions. However think this may only be available to premium-members ?
They do actively police games for cheating be sure of that & people who are caught end up here :

Many thanks and great to see a Scot too! My family has been "removed" from that Blessed Land for a few too many centuries now but we still have the name! Breckenridge - he who dwells on a fern ridge. Thanks again for your responses. Cheers!

I've felt the same thing also. Once I played someone around 1300 in online/turned based chess when I was about 1200 and I got DESTROYED! I thought to myself "what a big cheater that guy is!" Then I looked at his profile and saw that he just started playing online/turn based chess , but...he had over 4,000 games of blitz chess with a high rating...uugh!
I agree with netzach, just play your games, have fun, try to get better at this great game, and enjoy your victories because most of the players on this site play fair and honest and the cheaters do eventually get caught.
I am new to this site and find it not exactly easy to navigate so I may not have seen where this question was previously asked and answered. So bear with me.
What provision has been made on this site to prevent one's opponents from utilizing a computer against you in a live game?
Thanks, SP
