OK, I agree -- would be kinda nice not to have the ad plunked onto the middle of the board but beside the board.  Let's be thankful these are not (yet) audio ads, too.

Erik,

Thanks for the reply. A couple things:

1) I've got a birthday coming up and I'm asking for a membership for a gift.  Yea me! As well, congrats to you for having good customer service and replying to me.  The "imagine you had a site" analogy made good sense.

2) You do have a great site and I appreciate the services you offer.  For those, playing for free, enjoy it for what you're paying.

3) I'll, non-whiningly add, that it would help your cause to not put the ads over the entire game board after the game is finished.  Several have taken the time to voice that frustration.  It would go a long way to move them slightly.  That shouldn't be too large an expense or inconvenience. Who knows?  It could possibly convert a few more.

Again, thanks for your time.

Kevin

thanks! ads are a fixed size (300x250) so there is nothing we can do about that unfortunately :(

sftac

300x250's a fraction of whatever site webpage size is being used, no need to change the pop-up ad size imo

eg. on my 800x600 (15") monitor setting, I'd estimate the site webpages are designed for large monitor settings of a 1000x700 size, room enough I'd of thought, to plunk such pop-up ads in the lower right corner well away from the board, as even keeping within 800x600, there's room for both the site board and a pop-up ad to sit separately, beside it.

Erik,

What is going on?  Just when I finally decide to pay for service it drops!!  The servers running LIVE CHESS are horrible.  You move, nothing happens, then suddenly it's your turn again, and you have no time.  It's a waste of time and, almost, money.

Any answers to that?

Kevin

Were you worried that people didn't see the separate thread you started just 6 minutes earlier with the very same whine?

sftac

In all fairness, this is not only a different topic, but a completely different forum.
