Preparation for Tournaments

Hello everyone!
When it comes to tournaments, everyone has their own repertoire and prep. I’ve never actually prepared for a tournament before, but since I’m looking forward to my first rated OTB tournament, I’ve been wondering: how do you guys actually prepare?

I’ve read about people having files with specific lines and studies. Do you usually create your own files? Do you pick certain known lines and build a study around them, trying to map out every possibility?

What method works best for you? What do you suggest? Is there any free database or old prep of some GMs?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

I have a repertoire of my openings, but most of my preparation for a tournament is just getting a good night of sleep and having a good breakfast before the event (or other meal if later in the day).

If I know my opponent(s) beforehand (or likely opponents), then I’ll review some of my past games with them to prepare for their likely openings. That’s pretty much it.
