Seconds added at end of game

This is happening more and more. I play on several computers including lap tops. at the end of a game when my opponent is about to lose, seconds are added to his side. It just happen when I played a person named sureal from the US. It does not happen during the game...always at the end. I play enough on line games including Aces High, Battlefield 2..etc...etc and I know what lag is. This is not lag....it is seconds added to a game and only at the end. This event certainly effects the integrity of the game.

I would appreciate an answer on this and please dont treat me like I know nothing about lag or server slow downs....I play Yahoo chess.....pogo chess....GrandMaster chess and this is the only site it happens on. I love your site for all the opportunities to learn but if this is not addressed I will have to thing twice about renewing my membership.

Hello BM,

I'm not official here, but I got the same question some time ago and the answer was "premoves". If it's not lag, it's premoves. User can enable them and play several moves ahead, loosing no time while playing.

I've been advised that this can look like time is being added or like the clock is stopped.

Hope this helps. I've been mocked when I posted my questions. Users on this forum can be pretty rude sometimes.

What is up with "If you don't answer my question I'm not going to be a member anymore!" Srsly.

It is still very possible that it is lag. Just because you are not having lag in your connection to the server doesn't mean your opponent isn't having lag. There is a certain amount of trust between the client-side scripts and the server-side checks. The particular algorithm being used to detect lag takes time taken determined by the client-side scripts and the server scripts to determine if it is legitimate lag (or as close as it can determine to legitimate lag) and the time can be adjusted based on that.

I don't know the specifics of how that algorithm works but from other topics I have read on the issue that is the gist of it. I'm not saying that what you are seeing is the issue but that is a very likely cause. Again, just because you don't see any lag on your connection doesn't mean the opponent isn't.

But pre-moves shouldn't add time, the time should just stay the same.

Some time formats add bonus time after each completed move.  So you get time added back on.

That was a funny response.

I guess it pays to establish parameters.

Folks time should not be added at the end of a game...and I am not a free player I have a diamond membership...I know the difference between lag and premoves....this is not either....right now I am in a game and the clock has stopped altogether, I am playing SitiNurAnisah and the clock has been stopped at least 6 minutes and I am winning. To think that people can figure out how to manipulate the ptogram is very naieve. I play straight up...I have good days and bad days....but I do not cheat and it is infuriating when these things happen and no one takes it seriously. I am not a rookie when it comes to games on line nor am I foolish enough to think that the game can not be manipulated

What is up?????? Are you serious???? Ok I will spell it out....I pay for a diamond membership on a site I hope is legitimate. Then in certain games that I am winning these clock events happen. I am told that it is pre-moves or lag as if there is no possibility that the other player could not possibily have a manipulating program to tamper with the clock. So if the creators of this site are so naeive to think this could not happen and take no investigative action then when my membership expires I will consider not reupping. So does that explain "what is up"?

"a site I hope is legitimate."

Are you saying that this is a front for underground poker players to launder their money or something?

I mean, its your money, if you don't want to spring for it thats your decision, but what I see is that you think your problem is unique and special and that everyone should drop what they're doing to take care of you, even though they know its not really a problem and there's nothing to be done about it, because you're the only diamond member on the planet and you "know" that its really everybody cheating you. Shame on everyone except you.

So are you telling me this site is not legitimate??? Are you telling me that the designers of this site dont care that there could be players who are manipulating the way the game is suppose to be played?? Are you one of the designers or just someone sticking their nose where it doesnt belong? Are you admitting that there are cheating players here that will get away with it cause there "is nothing that can be done about it"?

haha at the moron that said some games add time at the end of moves.

just had this happen to me.  Seconds added to someone who had only seconds left to play.  They did not have premoves set.  That is complete junk as the moves they were taking needed to be tactical to mine.

  • This has happened multiple times to me. Once it gets under 10 seconds, every move they make adds some time back to the clock. It's not-premoves. Even with only like 3 seconds left on their clock while I had over 8, just moving the peices around as fast as we could, I ran out of time and he finished still with over 3 seconds left

I had a friend tell me this happened to them before it had happened to me. I thought he must had been mistaken. Maybe I just didn't notice it but after that conversation I notice it somewhat often now. These people must be using some way to cheat.

The lag here  is disgusting! i lost so many games on time thinking that my opponent was taking a few seconds to move, giving me  a feeling that i was ahead on the clock, so annoying.

Bobby4785

I can agree that chess.com bullet server is horrible. Lichess is way ahead, but they just dont have puzzlerush

Dielissen

I have to agree this is terrible. I play on a phone mostly and I can only do ONE premove while my PC opponent can queue up a bunch. Many times I've been up 5 seconds to 0.3 or something in a bullet match and still lose on time, or I make a mistake and then they go from 0.1 seconds to 10 and calmly Queen a pawn and mate me. At least make phone app the same, if I could premove a bunch I would have as well. -_- Not good.
